EDUCATION and TRAINING

We have held numerous community seminars and workshops throughout the Deer Springs Fire Prevention District. These have focused on fire prevention, structure hardening, fire safety and evacuation.


The Last Chance Survival Simulation Workshop was held on April 22, 2023 and discussed topics such as decision making, fire behavior, information sources, and survival psychology. The morning discussion was followed by afternoon field session that applied the morning's concepts to local conditions.


Deer Springs Fire Safe Council hosted the program was administered by the Greater Conservation District of San Diego County in partnership with the Fire Safe Council of San Diego County under a grant from CAL FIRE as part of the California Climate Investments Program.


DSFSC joins the Deer Springs Fire Protection District for Fire Prevention Week open houses. Cooperators from various San Diego County agencies such as HAZMAT participate. Fire crews demonstrate vehicle cut and rescue techniques and arrival of a firefighting helicopter put big smiles on the kids of all ages.




Local residents learn the proper fire extinguisher technique from local firefighters during hands-on training offered at various locations. DSFSC has assisted in several of these training sessions.
