Acceptable and Unacceptable Piles

EXCELLENT

All material to be chipped must be stacked in an orderly fashion in piles 3' to 5' high with the heavy ends all pointing the same direction either as shown below or pointing away. Material must be stacked at the roadside or in an open area into which the chipper can be backed or maneuvered to within 15 feet of the pile being chipped.

SO-SO

This pile contains appropriate material but is a mix of trunk orientations.  Depending on quantity and chipping day workload, the pre-chip inspector would likely ask the property owner to correct it. If left uncorrected, the field crew could decline to chip the pile.

UNACCEPTABLE

Random "stacking", active weed growth, and non-woody material make this pile unacceptable.
